In Which Beatrix Lies in Wait to Accost Her Neighbours

The sun had finally decided to grace the lake with its presence.

To date, the season had been too wet for even the most enthusiastic of semi-aquatic creatures.

Some of the lakeside residents had welcomed the chance at prolonged discomfort to prove their hardened resilience.

Beatrix wasn't sure to whom. Probably eachother she assumed. However, even they had lost their joie de vie after several straight weeks of not knowing if you were on or under the water.

But today was not one of those days.

Today was glorious, and Beatrix was going to take full advantage of it. She lounged on top of her lodge, tail dipped into the water (she had to admit the sun may have actually overcompensated when it showed up). And she lay in wait for her neighbours to wander by as she assumed they would be engaged in dopamine-chasing frolicking through the lake any moment now.

Johnathan had specifically declined her invitation to come outside with her for the same exact reason.

After 15 whole minutes of sitting with her own thoughts Beatrix nearly gave up. She had cast a friendly "yoo hoo" at multiple folks, but none had taken the bait. Just as she was considering getting up and seeking out someone to talk to she heard a gentle splash.

Alert now she peered around the gently rippling lake. Seeing nothing on the surface, she slipped off her lodge and submerged silently to find her social prey.
