Greeting Cards - A Foray

As I enter another round of applying for markets and fairs and street corners and what not I decided to try out some different approaches to take advantage of the professional scans that I get done of most of my paintings.

I'm not planning on getting into too many "gimmicky" items, but I'm a sucker for a pretty greeting card.

(In case you are wondering, the inside is just blank - decanter not included)

I ordered a small quantity of these two from VistaPrint to see what the quality would be like. I didn't want anything that would cost an arm and a leg but I also didn't want to give people a card that would feel like it would crumple as soon as you breathed on it.

These ones are on the linen paper stock and are a standard 5.5"X4". The colours turned out very true to the original paintings and the linen has a fun "luxurious" texture that makes it a bit more special than your average piece of cardstock.

I'm still working out the costing on these - judging by the card rack at the grocery store you can charge anywhere from "$4" to "your first born child" in the greeting card market.

(Note the lovely prints in the background! The ones on my website come in a 16X20in mat so they are frame ready)

I'm not planning on making them available via my website, but more as something that I can arrange for as needed / wanted. Let me know if this is something you are interested in! I have two more designs on their way that will (hopefully) grace a booth this fall.
