On the Edge of an Era

Endless. That was the only word that Marjorie could think of to describe the torturous screeching lunacy that had been echoing across the beach since the merciless break of dawn.

"ICKY!" she shouted vainly into the sky. "ICKY, THIS HAS TO STOP!"

"NO!" returned Icky as he swooped by his neighbour.

"WHY NOT?" asked Marjorie, letting her desperation dictate her volume.

"Because the truth cannot be contained, Marjorie," Icky answered defiantly and promptly resumed his discordant cries..."THE END IS NIGH, SHEEPLE! BAHHH!"
